When someone shares a challenge they’re facing, we like to help them. We like to offer suggestions. We like to find solutions.
But to get to the true root of the issue… to give ourselves adequate time and space to reflect… to come up with a solution that solves all facets of the issue…
We should spend lots of time dissecting the challenge.
Einstein apparently said if he had an hour to solve a problem, he’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem. And he’d spend just 5 minutes thinking about solutions.
So stop being so quick to offer solutions.
Instead, ask questions. And then ask more questions. Delve deep into the problem.
And when you do this, you might just come up with a well-thought-out solution that really and truly works.
