Life is full of choices.
And if you give someone else a choice, you double the chances of them agreeing to your recommendation.
It’s called the ‘But you are free technique’.
You may know the best way forward. You may feel strongly about the next steps. You may be certain about what the right thing to do is.
But stop telling people what they should do.
Instead, start explaining their options and the pros and cons of each. Your recommended option will have a lot more pros than cons.
And then tell them that they’re free to choose.
