Especially if their mind is entrenched in that viewpoint.
Instead, have them self-verify so they challenge their belief by themself.
Start by asking their permission to ask a blunt question.
Then, ask a question so they take a more extreme version of their viewpoint.
For example…
If they’re unhappy with your work after 2 weeks, ask them if they’d like you to start again from scratch.
If they say your check-in meetings aren’t effective, ask if they’d like to scrap them altogether.
There’s a good chance they’ll then backtrack from their entrenched view.
They’ll become more open to an alternative, less extreme view. And then you can gently put forward your perspective.
