People often respond to requests with, “Yes”.
But this means that they’ve heard you. It doesn’t mean that they’ve understood.
So don’t ask questions like, “Does that make sense?”
Instead, have them summarise what you’ve explained.
Do this and you can see what’s actually landed. You can correct misunderstandings immediately. And you can avoid issues later.
Agreement can feel reassuring. But understanding is what matters.
So, next time you explain something to someone…
Ask for a summary, not agreement.
