There are usually many people in meetings – and the conversation moves quickly. There’s rarely time or space to articulate our thoughts fully.
So before you respond, pay attention to others’ tone, pace and body language. You might sense hesitation, frustration or enthusiasm before it’s ever put into words.
Reflect back what they said. Or reflect back what you sensed in their tone or energy. Give them space to expand on their initial comment.
You’ll get better insight. You’ll respond more usefully. They’ll feel deeply understood.
And you’ll get to the nugget of what they’re really thinking.
